Posivnych Family

Meet mother Svitlana and her 3 kids: Tania (6), Maxim (4), and Diana (3).
Svitlana is a 21-year-old single mother and a victim of home violence. She ran away from her home with her kids and was sheltered by a local organization helping single mothers. She couldn’t stay there for too long, thus having to start a life on her own.

She moved to a small house in a remote village where she was struggling to meet her family’s basic needs: having a roof, heating, water, and food. She started looking for a job when the war started in Ukraine.

Due to the ongoing war many businesses and productions have shut down, and it is nearly impossible to find a job, especially in a small village like hers. Prices
of basic products tripled, making it even more challenging to have enough food and wood, let alone warm clothes to stay healthy and warm during the winter.
Currently Svitlana’s expenses are $280 per month. If she is not able to find a job, she will have to choose between food for her children and the roof over their heads.
